Alfie cat died yesterday after regaining consciousness and perking up at the vet’s for a few hours. He was even purring for a while. At 14 he had lived a relatively long life for a cat with diabetes and a heart condition, and his owner Jo had managed to find him and give him a cuddle before he died.

The vet thought Alfie died from a blood clot and wasn’t hit by a car as we first thought.

After the chaos of the last few days, I need to get back to London asap before my little holiday ends in the burning down of my friends’ house or worse.
